United States Studies
Collection overview
The United States Studies collection is a substantial research-level collection with broad coverage of the history, institutions and culture of the United States.
The book collection has particular strengths in:

- Literature
- An extensive reference section
Other subjects covered include Education, Film, Politics, Native and African American Studies Economics, Sociology and Religion.
The collection includes a number of United States Studies periodicals, notably those of state and regional historical societies.
Collection location
- Most books are located on the 5th floor
- All items available on open access will display the location U.S. STUDIES, with the classmark prefix 33 eg U.S. STUDIES 5th floor (33) KCGN Tho
- Large books are shelved in a separate sequence - indicated by the prefix ‘f’ or ‘folio’, before the location code
- Most periodicals are located on the periodicals open shelves (PS) on the 5th floor
- Recent issues of periodicals are on display bays in the Periodicals Room – 4th floor. For more information on finding journals, see our journals resources page
- Some items are held in the closed access stacks. These will display the location Stack Service. Please request at the Stack Service desk on the 4th floor
