The largest holdings are in German, although other languages include:

The holdings of this collection have been designed to complement the German collections of the Institute of Germanic and Romance Studies. As a result the collection is strong in translations and English language critical material.
Collection location
- Most books are located on the 5th floor
- All items available on open access will display the location GERMANIC, with the classmark prefix 3 eg GERMANIC 3 XWT B42E 996
- Most periodicals are located on the periodicals open shelves (PS) on the 5th floor

- Some items are held in the closed access stacks. These will display the location Stack Service. Please request at the Stack Service desk on the 4th floor
