The Financial Times Historical Archive delivers the complete searchable run of the world’s most authoritative daily business newspaper. Every item ever printed in the paper, from 1888-2006, can be searched and browsed article by article and page by page.

The following databases have been recently trialled:

  • British Biographical Archive (BBA I and II)
    The British Biographical Archive Online features the biographies of 400,000 individuals from all chapters of British history, ranging from pre-Roman times to 2002.
  • The Romantic Era Redefined
    The Romantic Era Redefined is a searchable collection of works focusing in the period between 1800 and 1830, that will bring academic research libraries a new, genre-redefining electronic collection of Romantic-era literature.
  • British Literary Manuscripts Online
    British Literary Manuscripts Online, c. 1660-1900, presents facsimile images of literary manuscripts, including letters and diaries, drafts of poems, plays, novels, and other literary works, and similar materials. Searching is based on tags and descriptive text associated with each manuscript. Images of the complete manuscript can be viewed, manipulated and navigated on screen.
  • ProQuest Historical Newspapers The Guardian and The Observer (1791-2003) The Guardian (1821-2003) and The Observer (1791-2003) offer full page and article images with searchable full text back to the first issue.
  • ProQuest Historical Newspapers This offer digital access to The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, The Christian Science Monitor, The Los Angeles Times, The Chicago Tribune, The Atlanta Constitution, The Boston Globe, The Hartford Courant, The Guardian & Observer and the San Francisco Chronicle.
    ProQuest Historical Newspapers - Irish Times The Historical Irish Times (1859-2007) offers full page and article images with searchable full text back to the first issue of both the Irish Times (1859-2007) and the Weekly Irish Times (1876-1958)
    ProQuest Historical Newspapers The Guardian and The Observer (1791-2003)The Guardian (1821-2003) and The Observer (1791-2003) offer full page and article images with searchable full text back to the first issue.
  • Literary Manuscripts (Berg) Victorian Manuscripts from the Henry W. and Albert A. Berg Collection of The New York Public Library. A broad range of authors from across the nineteenth century make this an essential research tool for all scholars and students researching Victorian literature. Most of these unique manuscripts are unavailable in any medium elsewhere. They are supplemented by some rare printed materials, including early editions annotated by the authors. Each author collection is included in its entirety, allowing users to browse and search the manuscripts as they would in the Berg Reading Room
  • Literary Manuscripts (Leeds) 17th and 18th Century Poetry from the Brotherton Library, University of Leeds. The project combines facsimile images of all of the manuscripts in their entirety, linked to new indexing and to the powerful BCMSV database which lists first lines, last lines, attribution, author, title, date, length, verse form, content, bibliographic references, MS and record number for over 6,600 poems within the collection
  • Cambridge Histories Online This established and essential component of the academic research library is now easily accessible online for the first time. This diverse, up to date and authoritative collection is unique to Cambridge Histories Online and offers vastly improved accessibility to the print editions published since the 1960s.
  • Psychology & Behavioural Sciences Collection Psychology & Behavioral Sciences Collection™ is a comprehensive database covering information concerning topics in emotional and behavioral characteristics, psychiatry & psychology, mental processes, anthropology, and observational & experimental methods.
