Senate House Library User Survey 2007

In Spring 2007 we carried out a user satisfaction survey of Senate House Library. We used LibQUAL+, a set of services to measure library users’ opinions of service quality, offered by the Association of Research Libraries (ARL).

The survey report (31 pages) is available here. We received 1606 responses.

Key findings included:

• good ratings for the service provided by library staff
• dissatisfaction with environmental issues such as lighting, temperature, and cleanliness
• concerns about missing books and how quickly these are replaced, as well as books shelved on the floor due to lack of space
• concerns about the complexity of classification scheme
• a need for new photocopiers in different locations, and new PCs, with word processing software
