Disruption to online library services, Saturday 27th March at 18:30

The library catalogue at catalogue.ulrls.lon.ac.uk will be unavailable from 18:30 on Saturday, 27th March for approximately one hour. This planned downtime is to allow for an essential system software upgrade to take place.

New Database Trial: The Financial Times Historical Archive 1888-2006.

The Financial Times Historical Archive is being trialled by the Senate House library. It delivers the complete searchable run of the world's most authoritative daily business newspaper. Every item ever printed in the paper, from 1888-2006, can be searched and browsed article by article and page by page. This is available on trial in the Library, until 12th April 2010.

SHL dropbox now located ground floor, South Block, Senate House

The Senate House Library dropbox (previously located on the ground floor, North Block) has been moved to the ground floor, South Block of Senate House. This places the dropbox closer to the main Library hub and security / reception staff.

Senate House Library move to South Block delayed

At its meeting on 23 June, the Senate House Project Board reluctantly took the decision to delay the start of the moves back into the South Block of Senate House. This is because the extensive programme of works to refurbish the building have not yet been fully completed. The moves, which had been scheduled for July 2009, are now expected to begin in August.

7th Floor Collection Moves

The History of Science, Health Studies, Education and Religious Studies collections will temporarily become closed access (Stack request items) as reclassification work is undertaken. It is expected that these collections will return to open access once more during September. We apologise for any inconvenience caused while these collections are less accessible.

Senate House Library - sustainable future secured Board of Trustees approves five-year Strategic Plan to refocus

The Board of Trustees has approved a recommendation from the Collegiate Council that the University of London Research Library Services (ULRLS), which includes Senate House Library (SHL), should continue as a collectively owned and shared library resource, complementary to College resources, and managed on behalf of Colleges by the University

UCL, CIBER group ebook survey

Last January University College London (UCL) CIBER group conducted a large scale study to examine attitudes and behaviour towards ebooks. This year a follow up survey plans to discover just how perceptions and attitudes have moved on in the last twelve months.
