Inter-collegiate students may borrow; a recommendation form must be signed by their teacher at the School. Proof of ID and home address must also be provided.
Other users should bring a letter of recommendation or ask for an application form for a library ticket. Some categories of reader have to pay a fee. Information about charges is available on request100 throughout the library

The online catalogue, eUCLid, can be accessed via the UCL web site http://library.ucl.ac.uk/ and the School’s web site http://www.ssees.ucl.ac.uk/. This includes records for all books and periodicals acquired by the Library since 1988 and a substantial proportion of earlier material. There is also a card catalogue with records for older material.
Own
Books are classified principally by country; history will be found with the appropriate country. Western European history (Misc.class) is located on the First Floor. Periodicals are shelved on the Lower Ground Floor. The Library has over 60,000 volumes on the history of Russia, the USSR/CIS in general and its European republics in particular, Finland, Poland, the former GDR, Germany, Austria, the Czech Republic and Slovakia, Hungary, Yugoslavia and its successor states, Romania, Bulgaria, Albania, with some works on Western Europe. Much material is in the languages of the countries concerned.
Printed sources generally; the principal periodicals and monographs published in the countries of interest to the School; archives and manuscripts.
