Friends of Senate House Library

The Friends care about the future of Senate House Library and wish to help it maintain its fine collections, traditions of quality services and to foster its development programme in support of education and research.

A Committee is elected at the Annual Meeting, which determines how best to use funds raised by the Friends for the benefit of Senate House Library.

BeFriend a Book programme >
SHeLF, the Friends of Senate House Library, are pleased to encourage you to support the new BeFriend a Book programme.

Since the establishment of the Friends in 1988, donations have been made towards bookbinding; the acquisition of books; the purchase of specialist reader aids: computing equipment; and items for the conservation laboratory.

How to join the Friends

The subscription year runs from 1 October, and those joining in the course of the year pay a pro rata subscription.   

Individual annual membership: £20
Corporate annual membership: £40
Life membership:  £400
The Student annual rate:* £10

*(Full-time students of the University of London and recent graduates (i.e. graduated in the last 3 years.)

Special access rates to the Library's collections are available to paid-up members of the Friends as follows:

Annual Reference £55 inc VAT
Annual Borrowing (4 book entitlement) £75 inc VAT
